Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Project

(717)783-1457

The following link provides information on the Mother's Day Mammograms program. (links to Rite Aid's website)

Why the Program is offered

  • Breast cancer produces more Pennsylvania female cancer cases than any other type of cancer, and it is the second leading cause of female cancer death (only lung cancer has more deaths).
  • Breast cancer risk increases with age. Eighty-two percent of Pennsylvania cases occur at age 50 or over, 52% at age 65 or over.
  • African American women age 50+ are at greater risk of having cervical cancer and dying from it than are white women.
  • African Americans have lower 5-year breast cancer survival rates than do white women.
  • Early detection improves survival.
  • Breast cancer and cervical cancer can be detected early through early detection methods:

Breast:

  • clinical breast examinations
  • mammograms
  • self breast examinations

Cervical:

  • Pap tests
  • pelvic examinations
  • If cervical cancer is detected early enough, it is nearly 100 percent curable.

Program Eligibility

  • Age 50 - 64*
  • Low to moderate income
  • No insurance or limited insurance

Get your veggies here
Once again in 2008, we're so pleased to be a drop-off location for CSA (community-supported agriculture) shares for two local farms, Quiet Creek and Seasons' Harvest. Here's how it works: sign up for a full or partial share, and pay the farmers before the season starts. Then each week, stop by the store to pick up your (huge) box of whatever is fresh-picked that week! Quiet Creek is taking reservations now from people who had a share last year, and Seasons' Harvest is accepting new shares for 2008. You can sign up at www.seasonsharvestfarm.com/. A great way to support local farmers and get the freshest and best-tasting food around!

*when you divide the weeks of the growing season into the amount you have to pay for what you get, it's really quite reasonable and your are supporting a local, organic farmer! -

I am delighted to announce that I have released my new CD. "Another Life" was produced by Toronto roots veteran Paul Mills and features his stellar guitar work as well as wonderful contributions from Tom Leighton, David Woodhead and Dennis Pendrith. You can hear sound clips on my website or directly on the site where you can buy it www.cdbaby.com/lenore3 .

I'll be having a formal CD release after my March trip to Texas so I'll keep you posted on that. For area fans who'd like a sneak preview I have a couple of shows coming up before I head off to Memphis in February to showcase the new tunes at the annual Folk Alliance Conference.
For those of you on myspace, please drop by and add me to your list of 'friends'. You can hear complete versions of a few songs there as well as on my Sonicbids site, all links listed below.

About me

I am both a model and an actress, the daughter of a professional wrestler. I've been in movies, music videos, commercials, and theatre. I LOVE 80s metal, and my life's dream is to be in a W.A.S.P. music video.

I definitely don't have a typical commercial model appearance; being half Italian and half Samoan, I have an exotic look. My style varies quite a bit and can go from ultraglam to exotic/otherworldly to corporate and goth. I have five tattoos that I designed myself (which are all in places that are hidden beneath clothing..two on the back, one on each hip, one on the ankle)

I'm looking to increase my portfolio and get some really good jobs out of it. I would like to work with photographers in and near the Lehigh Valley, PA to come up with some really creative, beautiful pictures.
